Inderal and Imitrex

May 26th, 2006 at 04:42 pm

Visited the doctor this morning and came away with prescriptions for Inderal and Imitrex, and a CT scan scheduled for next week. My blood pressure is just fine, but Inderal is sometimes prescribed for headaches. We'll see how it goes.

Inderal will be inexpensive but Imitrex is pricey. Luckily I shouldn't need the latter too often. I haven't had a migraine in a while, just the persistent daily headaches. New prescriptions mean more money taken out of my dwindling emergency fund. This has been an expensive month.

The doctor and his nurse were both wonderful. It was worth putting up with the appointment-setter to see them.

Still nervous about the CT scan...still not sure why.

Kashi- I am sure hoping that this helps you. I know it is frustrating having your emergency fund dwindling...but if this helps, it will be money well spent.

Have you been using that new camera much?

Can you get some samples of the imitrex? My doctor did this for me, becasue I wasn't sure which med would work best.

I used to have a constant low to medium grade headache, and then the "big guys." My doctor told me 2 things that surprised me: The Big Guys are migraines, and, the Fewer Big Guys I have the less little ones I'd have. It's been true; working to prevent the Big ones had made the daily headache go away. I'm not pain free but in much, much better shape. (I avoid trigger foods, sleep at same time, keep caffeine low, and same does/same time, don't take too much ibuprofen, and take an Axert if I get a Big Guy).
Good luck. I have been surprised at how well "dself care" and Axert has worked on the daily headache. I hope you get pleasantly surprised too.

best wishes on your ct scan... my spouse had one done last month.. he had a cough, they wanted to check after a check xray showed something.. nothing showed up on his ct scan.. and worrying about it before hand was worse than doing it, he said.. anyway, he said it was a piece of cake.
